“Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project” (8 p.m., HBO): “Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project” is an engaging feature-length documentary devoted to the life and times of the king of insult comedy. The film, directed by John Landis, is bursting with hilarious clips from Rickles’ career, as well as interviews with many of his famous friends, including Billy Crystal, Roseanne Barr, Chris Rock and Clint Eastwood.
“Pictures of Hollis Woods” (9 p.m., CBS): Sissy Spacek stars in “Pictures of Hollis Woods,” a new “Hallmark Hall of Fame” film about a retired teacher who develops a loving relationship with an oft-neglected foster child (Jodelle Ferland). But their time together may be waning as the mentor begins exhibiting signs of Alzheimer’s. The strong cast also includes Alfre Woodard and James Tupper.
“Tin Man” (9 p.m., Sci Fi Channel): Don’t expect “Tin Man” to take you somewhere over the rainbow or even help you ease on down the road. This dark “Wizard of Oz” update has a very different agenda. Now, we’re off to see the Mystic Man, a loopy nightclub performer (Richard Dreyfuss) who dwells in the “O.Z.” (the Outer Zone). And the witch — or the sorceress — is a curvy young thing who prefers tight-fitting bodices. Somehow, we don’t think L. Frank Baum would approve.
“Brotherhood” (10 p.m., Showtime): A hit is placed on Michael; Tommy is confronted about his relationship with Dana.
