On the fourth play of the second quarter, Coldwater had a third-and-10 at the 50 when Mooney defensive lineman Taylor Hill beat the left tackle, hit quarterback Cory Klenke’s arm, stripped the ball and Mooney’s John Simon recovered at the Cavaliers’ 39.

A couple penalties stalled Mooney’s drive (incidentally, is there another team in the state that would call a fullback dive on third-and-15 -- and almost get it?) and Mooney punted.

Coldwater has had success with some quick throws to beat Mooney’s pressure. Unfortunately, those plays don’t work every time.

On a third-and-5 at their own 40, Mooney linebacker Michael Zordich blitzed inside, pressured Klenke and Klnenke threw off-balance into the arms of Mike Gemma, who is having a terrific game so far. The Cardinals take over at the Coldwater 45.

Two plays later, Zordich lost a fumble and Coldwater recovered at its own 45. The Cavaliers went three and out and Mooney has the ball at its own 10 with 5:26 left in the second quarter.
