MOONEY LIVE | Mooney leads 14-7

Coldwater quarterback Cory Klenke scored from 16 yards out on a draw play with 6:18 left, making it 14-7. Klenke is delivering the ball much quicker in the second half, throwing quick outs rather than try to wait and tempt the Mooney pass rush. So far, it’s working.

Mooney went three and out on its first possession of the second half, three straight runs by Brandon Beachum that gained nine yards. Cardinals coach P.J. Fecko, who handles the offense, has not made much of an effort lately to get his players the ball in open space. He’s been satisfied with going off tackle.

One of the big storylines of the game has been penalties. The Cardinals were penalized nine times for 69 yards in the first half and Coldwater was penalized once for 5 yards. Mooney also got a holding call on the opening kickoff. The Cavaliers were called for a false start midway through the third quarter and the Mooney fans gave the officials some mock cheers.
