CORTLAND — A fiscal crisis at Lakeview schools is forcing the board of education to make major spending and personnel cuts.
The board outlined plans at a special meeting today to cut costs to make up the expected $900,000 deficit it faces.
Superintendent Robert A. Wilson said there will be personnel cuts but no specifics are known at this time. He said the district hopes most of it will be done through attrition.
The district also will severely limit spending, which means no money will be allocated for supplies, field trips and other things, he said.
The district hopes to solve its money problems with a tax levy that will be placed on the March primary ballot. The levy would bring in $2 million annually.
