About 100 ballots overlooked by board

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Hamilton County Board of Elections expects to finish rescanning ballots today in preparation for a recount that could affect the outcome of six close races.

A recount is mandated when the margin of victory is one-half of 1 percent or less. A levy in one school district passed by three votes.

Officials say the amended results will include about 100 absentee ballots that were not part of the original count.

Board of Elections Director John Williams says the security of the ballots was never compromised, it’s just that one stack of ballots was overlooked through human error.

The board began rescanning all of the more than 200,000 ballots cast, including about 29,000 absentee ballots, on Friday. The recount is scheduled for next week.
