Sebring library has reopened

SEBRING — Sebring Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 195 W. Ohio Ave., closed Aug. 2-Monday for interior improvements, has reopened.

“The purpose of the project is to update the look and feel of the branch and make it more warm and inviting for the Sebring community,” said Mary Pullin, library assistant director.

Improvements include new carpeting, floor tile and paint; energy-efficient windows and draperies; new glass doors at the front entrance and foyer; custom furniture, including comfort chairs, plus study tables and chairs; relocation of the children’s picture books from a bookcase to bins that are easily reachable by children; an “early literacy wall” with interactive features to support pre-literacy skills; a new area for teen collections, which includes seating; and a new central information desk for the librarian.

Cost of the project is about $70,000.

Continued improvements are planned and will be completed while the branch remains open.

“The Sebring community can also look forward to increased library parking and an attractive green space directly behind the library,” Pullin said.

An open house to show off the branch to the community is being planned for the fall, but the date has not yet been set.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday; and closed Sunday and Friday.
