OVI charge for deputy

CANFIELD — A Mahoning County deputy sheriff is charged by Canfield police with operating a vehicle impaired.

Donald Belosic Jr., 34, of Canfield was in Mahoning County Area Court on Wednesday and pleaded innocent. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 10.

Belosic refused to be tested, records show. His automatic license suspension was stayed by Judge Scott D. Hunter. Records show Belosic was charged with OVI on Saturday.

In January 2003, Belosic, who had been charged with OVI, pleaded no contest to a reduced charge and received a one-year probation.

Judge OKs repayment

WARREN — A Trumbull County Common Pleas judge has approved the way a former Warren Municipal Court deputy clerk will repay $77,000 she embezzled from the court.

In January, Judith DeJacimo, 50, was sentenced to 18 months in prison by Judge John M. Stuard and ordered to make restitution. On Thursday, DeJacimo’s attorney, Michael D. Rossi of Warren, and David Toepfer, an assistant county prosecutor, decided on the way it will be repaid.

According to the agreement, $34,000 has been placed on deposit with the common pleas court, $25,000 will be paid by the municipal clerk of court’s bonding company, and $18,000 from DeJacimo’s Public Employees Retirement System or deferred compensation accounts.

Still unresolved is how payment will be made of $130,000 for the audit that resulted in the charges against the former clerk. Judge Stuard has scheduled a status hearing for Oct. 25 to discuss repaying the cost of the audit.

Warren drug raid

WARREN — City police are conferring with the prosecutor to determine if charges will be filed as the result of a drug raid earlier this week at a heavily fortified house on the southwest side.

Surveillance cameras were attached to the outside of the house at 926 Swallow St. with monitors throughout the inside. Metal bars reinforced all the windows and doors. During the investigation, agents seized guns and suspected marijuana. The occupant is on probation for attempted possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Skoczylas said.
