Youngstown Film’s weekly Summer Classic Film Festival comes to an end with “American Graffiti.” The 1973 movie will be screened for free at 7 p.m. in room 132 of DeBartolo Hall (the auditorium) on the Youngstown State University campus.

The Canfield Fair is in full swing until Monday, offering many unhealthy but delicious foods, amusement rides, livestock and the irresistible barn full of large and grotesquely misshapen vegetables.

Get Labor Day weekend started on the right foot at Party on the Plaza, which begins after work and goes until 2 a.m. at the Downtown Youngstown Buffalo Wild Wings on Wick Avenue. The Hern Brothers Band will perform at 10:30 p.m.

A book release party begins at 7 p.m. for local author Chris Barzak, whose first novel, “One for Sorrow,” has been published by Bantam Books. Barzak will give readings from his book, and music will be provided by B.J. O’Malley and Robert Dennick Joki. The Oakland is at 220 W. Boardman St., Downtown Youngstown. k

This week’s outdoor movie at Yellow Creek Theatre in Poland is Walt Disney’s 1955 animated film “Lady and the Tramp.” Show time is approximately 8:30 p.m. The film will be screened on the Route 224 bridge wall, adjacent to the Poland Library. It’s free.

Two groups from Youngstown’s indie rock heyday — The Februarys and Figure Ground — will relive those heady days in a show at Cedar’s Lounge.

Theater season gets into high gear, as plays open at Youngstown State University (“The Miracle Worker”) on Thursday; and at the Oakland (“Musical of Musicals: The Musical”), Trumbull New Theatre (“Last of the Red Hot Lovers”) and Victorian Players (“Movie of the Mind”) on Friday.

Easy Street Productions presents an evening of favorites at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Morley Pavilion, which is at the Wick Recreation Area of Mill Creek Park, off McCollum Road on Youngstown’s West Side.
