Teens will be questioned in BB gun spree
YOUNGSTOWN — Twenty-nine vehicles on the West Side were like shooting gallery tin ducks for vandals with BB guns.
The persons of interest are two brothers, age 17 and 18, who live on the West Side, said Detective Sgt. John Perdue, commander of the Family Service Investigative Unit. He said the boys’ mother will be asked to claim her car todayand bring her sons in to be interviewed.
The mother’s car was towed on Wednesday after Patrolman Dan Mikus spotted two BB pistols and a bottle of BBs laying on the driver’s side floor board. Mikus, who took some of the victims’ criminal damaging reports Wednesday morning, concluded that the charge would likely be a felony, based on the accumulated damage total, which could be several thousand dollars.
Perdue said the reports show most of the windows were smashed or shot out with BB guns. He said the neighborhoods will be canvassed to determine if the suspects can be identified.
