YOUNGSTOWN — Larry and Diana Walk of WSOM and WKTX radio will emcee a Labor Day Polka Cruise aboard the Majestic, the largest ship in Pittsburgh’s Gateway Clipper Fleet.

The three featured bands performing will include Youngstown’s Del Sinchak Band, The Casuals from Cleveland and the Polka Quads from Steelton, Pa.
Boarding begins at noon at Station Square Dock at noon. The three-hour cruise begins at 1 p.m. Music will be continuous on all three decks.

McDonough Museum
will open season

YOUNGSTOWN — The McDonough Museum of Art will open its season with Forte, the biennial faculty exhibition.

The exhibition will feature selected works in various media by studio art faculty of the department of art at Youngstown State University. It will be on display Sept. 14 through Nov. 9. The opening reception will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 14 and is free to the public.

The exhibition will feature the works of Dragana Crnjak, Peter HappelChristian, and Phillip Andrew Lewis, recent additions to the department of art faculty.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours on Wednesday evenings until 8 p.m. Admission is free.

Kids program will put
focus on labor history

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Historical Center, 151 W. Wood St., will hold children’s events on Labor Day. Gallery tours at 12:30, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. will focus on labor history and immigration. In the classroom, learning stations will cover unions, labor songs and child labor. Tours and classroom activities will be no more than 40 minutes.

Landfield exhibit at Butler

YOUNGSTOWN — The Butler Institute of American Art will present the first extensive retrospective of the work of Ronnie Landfield from Sept. 16 to Nov. 25. The exhibition will be located at the Trumbull Branch, 9350 E. Market St., Howland. Landfield, 60, has had more than 60 solo exhibitions throughout the United States and his work is featured in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
