Mahoning deputy dog warden threatened

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County deputy dog warden called police earlier this week, saying he was threatened with an AK-47 assault rifle while investigating dog fighting complaints on North Fruit Street on the East Side.

Dave Nelson told police a man in a white Oldsmobile pulled up and pointed the AK-47 directly at him. The gunman put the rifle back on the passenger seat and drove off when a woman who lives at a house Nelson was checking came outside, police said.
