FOOD SALES AND DINNERS | Groups off takeout, sit-down events

THURSDAY

• American Legion Post 737, 16465 Milton Ave., Lake Milton, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Carryouts will be available. Call (330) 654-5630.

FRIDAY

• Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; and bread and butter, coffee or tea. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.

• St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m. Friday.

TAKING ORDERS

• The membership committee of First Christian Church of Girard, 140 E. Broadway St., will be selling sausage and steak hoagie sandwiches on Friday nights, Sept. 7 through Sept. 28. Sandwiches with peppers and onions are $4.25. Cheese is 50 cent extra. Order on Tuesday each week by calling the church at (330) 545-6130 between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pickup will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.

• Our Lady of Hungary Church, 545 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is taking orders for stuffed cabbage. The deadline for ordering is Sept. 25 by calling (330) 799-6829. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 30 at Cardinal Mindszenty Hall. The cost is $12 a dozen. Patrons may provide their own containers or pay 50 cents for one.

• Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church is taking orders for potato pirogi until Tuesday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, where there also will be a bake sale. Pirogi are $5 per dozen, and orders may be placed by calling (330) 799-0532 or (330) 219-7809.

UPCOMING

• Mercer County Historical Society will host an ox roast Sept. 16 in conjunction with Munnell Run Farm Days. The meal will be served from noon to 2 p.m. and will include salad, potato, vegetable and roll. Serving will be limited to 200 on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost is $6. Advance tickets can be purchased at the society headquarters or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the society at 119 S. Pitt St., Mercer, PA 16137. • Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will have drive-through takeout dinners available from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 6. The cost is $6. No need to preorder or get out of the car.
