Andover library to host juried art exhibit


ANDOVER — The annual art show sponsored by Andover Public Library, the Friends of the Library and the Andover Rotary Club will open Sept. 23 with a reception for participating artists and the public from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library. The artwork will remain on exhibit through Sept. 27, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The juried show is open to all area artists 16 years and older. Eugene Goldthwaite will judge and jury the show.

A cash award of $300 will be given for Best of Show; first place, $100; and second place, $50, in the following categories: oil/acrylics, watercolor, drawing/pastel, sculpture, mixed media, and photography. A People’s Choice award of $100 will be given to the artwork that receives the most vote at the conclusion of the show.

All entries must be the original work of the artist. Each artist is allowed a maximum of three entries in any given category. A $5 fee will be charged for each piece of art that is entered. Artwork must be delivered to the library on Sept. 17 or 18 between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
