West Side fire does $3,000 damage

YOUNGSTOWN — A tire was ignited inside a vacant basement apartment at 2561 Tyrell Ave. just before 3 a.m. today and the fire did about $3,000 damage, the fire department said. No injuries were reported.

A representative of the three-story West Side complex told firefighters the apartment had been vacated about two months ago and was undergoing rehabilitation.
