Cuba leads Mooney to 4-0 win in opener

STRUTHERS — Ashly Cuba scored three goals and added an assist as the Cardinal Mooney High girls soccer team defeated Cincinnati Indian Hills 4-0 Saturday at Valley Sports.

Katie Griswold scored the Cardinals’ (1-0) other goal, while Dina Pelly, Maggie Vinopal and Alex Sierra had assists. Goalkeeper Megan Mclaughlin had a shutout in goal.

Boys

CANFIELD — Aaron Lamancusa of West Branch (1-0) scored the only goal on an assist from Logan Schaefer, as the Warriors defeated Canfield, 1-0.

Canfield (1-1) had 11 shots on goal and West Branch six.

West Branch goalkeepers Chance Young and Eric Clayton had nine and three saves, respectively.

Mooney 2, Copley 0

STRUTHERS — Thomas Beck and Rob Fox scored goals, and Jon Critell had 13 saves for Cardinal Mooney.

Scott Blasko and James Simon had assists for the Cardinals (1-0).

Kevin Ivasku had six saves for Copley (0-1-2).
