Eagle award

Austin Ray Clark, son of Ivan and Ann Clark of Boardman, recently received the Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouting’s highest honor, at a ceremony at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Boardman.

He has been a member of Western Reserve Council Boy Scouts of America Troop 60 at Westminster Presbyterian Church since 2001 with Scoutmaster Ted Stazak.

Austin was a member of Cub Scout Pack 114 at St. Charles Church for five years, where he earned Cub Scouting’s highest award, the Arrow of Light. He joined Troop 60 in May 2001 and has earned 37 merit badges.

His scouting leadership experience includes serving as senior patrol leader, two terms as assistant senior patrol leader, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader and den chief for two Cub Scout dens.

Special scouting awards include: World Conservation Award, United States Heritage Award, Seven Ranges Scout Reservation Fifth Year Pipestone and Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius Catholic Religion Awards.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Austin planned and led the construction, painting and installation of shelving at the Beatitude House of Youngstown, a facility that meets the needs of disadvantaged women and children in the Mahoning Valley.

The shelves are used for the organization and storage of donated items.

A senior at Boardman High School, he is a member of National Honor Society, Art Club and Spanish National Honor Society, where he was editor of the Spanish Club newsletter. He also is a member of St. Charles Church and its Life Teen Youth Group and a member of the teen advisory committee at the Boardman branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.
