Saunders 60th anniversary celebration held
XYOUNGSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. John P. Saunders of Youngstown were honored June 30 during a dinner party at the Fifth Season Restaurant in Austintown in celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Serving as hosts for the event were their children, Mary Beth Brooks of Austintown, Margene Foster of Reno, Nev., Jack Saunders of Columbus and Michael Saunders of Youngstown.
Also participating were their grandchildren, Courtney Saunders, Brent Saunders, Ashleigh Foster, Jennifer Saunders and her fiancé, Shawn Mulryan, and Brandy Hynes and her husband, Jim, and a great-grandchild, Brodie Hynes.
A grandchild, Barry Brooks Jr., and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Nye Saunders, are deceased.
St. Dominic Church in Youngstown was the setting June 7, 1947, as Mr. Saunders and the former Margaret J. Thompson were united in marriage. They are members of St. Christine Church and former members of the church bowling team.
Mrs. Saunders, who is known as Peg, was a telephone operator with Pennsylvania Railroad in Youngstown, where her husband, who is know as Jack, was a block operator prior to retiring in 1981.
