Renewal of vows will mark Harkins 50th anniversary
XBIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mr. and Mrs. John T. Harkins of Birmingham, formerly of Boardman, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 2 by renewing their nuptial vows at St. James Meeting House in Boardman, formerly St. James Episcopal Church, where they were married Nov. 23, 1957.
After the ceremony, family members and friends will join the couple at a reception to be held in their honor at the Boardman Community Center.
Honoring their parents are Lisa and Mark Bond of Birmingham, Tom and Karen Harkins, also of Birmingham, and Jill and Rick Dye of Orlando, Fla. The family also includes 10 grandchildren, Austin, Lauren and Morgan Bond; Lindsey, Macy and Hunter Dye; and Mallory, Delaney, Adam and Brian Harkins.
Mr. Harkins, who is known as Jack, was a supervisor with USX in McDonald before being transferred in 1980 to Birmingham. After retiring in 1986, he went into business for himself.
Mrs. Harkins, the former JoAnn R. Hall, was employed by the Boardman School System and then by Brookwood Hospital.
