WARREN — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of the Ford F-150 pickup truck that collided with a motorcycle Aug. 16, killing its rider, Michael Brown, 38, of Youngstown. The truck is described as a 1997 to 2003 model with a sticker containing the letters FRBR. It would have damage to the driver’s side. Officials also say the vehicle may have aluminum rims. The truck’s driver is alleged to have fled the scene of the accident on state Route 82 and Collar-Price Road in Brookfield Township about 10 p.m. To report the location of a matching vehicle, call the patrol’s Warren Post at (330) 898-2311.
I-80 lane restrictions
AUSTINTOWN — Beginning at 3 a.m. Sunday, Interstate 80 eastbound from the Ohio Turnpike to state Route 46 will have various lane restrictions for pavement repairs. This work will continue until 5 p.m. Sunday.
Power restored
CANFIELD — Equipment failure has been blamed for the power outage that affected 409 Ohio Edison customers Friday. Ohio Edison area manager Paul Harkey said a wire connecting two conductors burned out at 4:48 p.m. near Industrial Park Road and West Main Street. The failure may have been the result of earlier storm damage, he said. Maintainence crews had restored power to all customers by 6:33 p.m., he said.
Students’ suggestions
YOUNGSTOWN — Fifteen urban design students from the University of Michigan will return to Youngstown on Monday with recommendations on how to make the city more “livable,” especially for young professionals such as themselves. The group toured Youngstown in July as part of an eight-week project to improve downtown. They have been instructed to focus on the area bordered by Rayen and Boardman streets and Hazel Street and Central Square. Students will air their suggestions at 5 p.m. in the community room at the Chevrolet Centre. The project received $4,000 in assistance from the Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corporation. U-M students are also researching ways to improve Chicago and Ann Arbor.
Drug-charge hearing set
YOUNGSTOWN — A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11 in municipal court on a drug trafficking charge filed against 49-year-old Callie Vanessa Coleman after a Thursday evening raid at her home at 171 New York Ave. Police reported finding heroin packaged for sale, a bag of heroin, more than $2,200 cash and a 12-gauge shotgun. She is free after posting a $5,000 surety bond.
Charged in stabbing
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A city man is charged with criminal attempt at homicide after another man was stabbed in a money dispute. Police said Lawrence Threats, 23, of West Avenue, was arrested Wednesday evening after police were called to his home. They found another man inside the house with a stab wound to his left rear shoulder and knife marks on his back and neck. The 27-year-old victim told police Threats and another man accused the victim of stealing money from a woman. A fight started among the three men and as the victim tried to leave, he was stabbed, police said. The man was treated at Jameson Memorial Hospital, police said. Threats is also charged with criminal conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Retirement party
YOUNGSTOWN — Annie Hall of Youngstown will have a retirement party at 5 p.m. today at the McGuffey Centre on Jacobs Road. Hall has devoted years to community service including serving as president of the East Side Block Watch and supervisor of citywide block watch. Hall also was a sponsor of the National Night Out March Against Crime for 17 years.

YOUNGSTOWN — Five people became U.S. citizens in a naturalization ceremony Friday before Judge John M. Durkin of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Their names, hometowns and countries of origin are: Tariq Muhammad Siddique Gill, Canfield, Pakistan; Mona Ata Kassem, Struthers, Lebanon; Anna Goraj, Campbell, Poland; Judith Kay McClendon, Austintown, United Kingdom; and Maribel Espinosa Casas, Youngstown, Cuba.
