Online registration available for Job Expo

Companies that are hiring in the tri-county area will be on hand.

YOUNGSTOWN — Job seekers wishing to participate in Job Expo 2007 can register online for the event, scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Chevrolet Centre downtown.

Registration can be completed at any computer with an Internet connection. Admission to the Job Expo is free to all job seekers.

Last year at Job Expo 2006, a total of 93 employers and 25 schools participated, and nearly 3,500 job seekers attended the Job Expo, at which some 2,000 jobs were listed, officials said.

In addition to companies that are hiring in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties and regional training organizations, the Job Expo also will feature information on training funding.

Free workshops will be available to attendees throughout the day. They include: “First Impressions,” which will aid the job seeker with résumé preparation and interview techniques; “Jobs — What’s Hot, Understanding Today and Tomorrow’s Job Market”; and “Starting Your Own Business.”

Registering online

To register, job seekers need only log on to www.onestopohio.org and follow the directions. After completing the registration, job seekers will be asked to print out a confirmation that will be their ticket into the Job Expo.

Having the ticket will expedite their admission into the expo. Those not preregistered will need to fill out a registration card at the event.

Items job seekers should bring to the event include their registration confirmation/ticket and an adequate number of résumés. They should also be prepared for on-site job interviews.

For job seekers who need help preparing or updating their résumés or need to improve their interviewing skills, workshops are available at the local One-Stops. Job seekers interested in the workshops should call the One-Stop to reserve a seat.

The event is offered by the One Stops of Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, along with the Regional Chamber, the East Liverpool Area Chamber of Commerce, the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce and the city of Youngstown.
