CANFIELD — Ashley Crump, daughter of Mary Crump of Canfield and Tom Crump of Champion, was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Atlanta this summer. She was one of 350 high school students to take part in the 10-day educational project designed for students with an interest in medicine. Participants stayed at Emory University School of Medicine. Ashley, who will be a junior at Canfield High School this fall, has participated in two youth mission projects in Steubenville, was instrumental in creating the C.O.B.R.A. (a mission-focused bicycle event to raise money for Abigail’s Home and Warren Family Mission) and helped raise money for multiple sclerosis research.

Orientation program

BOARDMAN — Hitchcock Woods will hold its kindergarten/preschool orientation program Thursday at its facilities at 8482 Hitchcock Road. The program will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. for the 3- and 4-year-old preschool classes and from 7:15 to 8 p.m. for kindergarten. To register, call (330) 758-2108.

Chapter to get award

GROVE CITY, Pa. — Grove City College’s Tau Alpha chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honorary for education, has received the Achieving Chapter Excellence Award. This is the third consecutive time that the Grove City chapter will receive the honor. A ceremony and International Convocation for KDP is set for Nov. 1 in Kentucky.

The honor society is committed to recognizing excellence and promoting mutual cooperation, support and professional growth for education professionals. The Grove City chapter is being recognized for service projects coordinated and run by students.

Scholarships offered

CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland chapter of the Public Relations Society of America is offering its first scholarship for college students studying public relations. One college junior and one senior will each be awarded a scholarship of $1,000. To be eligible, students must either be residents of or attend a Northeast Ohio college or university. The award is open to students majoring in public relations, communications or a related field.

Students must possess a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, submit writing samples, two letters of recommendation and complete a 500-word essay to be considered. The application form is posted at www.prsacleveland.org.
