Shannon Higgins and Chris Backner to wed on Nov. 3

XLOWELLVILLE — Stephen and Charlotte Higgins, 6249 New Castle Road, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Higgins, of the same address, and Chris Backner, a son of Dr. Gary Backner, both of 241 Old Oak Drive, Cortland, and Kathy Backner, 601 E. Western Reserve Road, Boardman.

The couple have planned an open wedding that will take place at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Invitations will be issued for their evening reception at The Georgetown in Boardman.

Miss Higgins graduated from Youngstown State University with a degree in medical technology. She is employed by the Institute for Transfusion Medicine in Pittsburgh.

Mr. Backner holds a degree in broadcast communications from Ohio Center for Broadcasting in Cleveland and is employed by Enterprise in Boardman.
