YOUNGSTOWN — Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for singing comedian Rodney Carrington, who will be at Stambaugh Auditorium at 8 p.m. Sept. 28.

Tickets are $39.75 plus fees and are available at the Stambaugh box office, 500 Fifth Ave.; by calling (330) 259-0555; or through Ticketmaster. This is an 18-and-older show.

Carrington is heard regularly on “The Bob & Tom” radio show.

Sutliff Museum
to honor benefactor

WARREN — The Sutliff Museum will hold a celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. The annual event honors Edward Sutliff Brainard, who furnished some of the first books for young people in the old Warren Library. An endowment from his mother and his Aunt Phebe Sutliff still provides some of the books for teens in the present library.

Light refreshments will be served on the main floor of the library, and the museum on the second floor will be open for visitors to see memorabilia and photographs of Sutliff and the Warren of his time.

‘Rear Window’ will
be screened outdoors

POLAND — Yellow Creek Theatre will screen Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 suspense thriller “Rear Window” at 9 p.m. Friday (rain date Saturday). A band will perform before the movie, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The film will be screened on the Route 224 bridge wall adjacent to the Poland Library. Admission is free. Parking is available at the library and across the street at Town Hall.

Governor’s Award for Arts
seeks nominations

The Ohio Arts Council is accepting nominations for the 2008 Governor’s Awards for the Arts. The annual awards are given to Ohio individuals and organizations in recognition of outstanding contributions to the arts statewide, regionally and nationally.

Awards are given for administration, education, patron, business support, community development and participation, and individual artist. The deadline is Oct. 15, and the deadline for support letters is Oct. 22.
