Man held in shooting of his brother

YOUNGSTOWN – A Youngstown man accused of seriously wounding his brother complained to a judge Thursday that his bond was too high.

“You may not as well have given me a bond, man,” Anthony Peeples told visiting municipal Judge Diane Vettori, who set People’s bond at a total $850,000. He remains in the Mahoning County jail.

Peeples, 40, of Atkinson Avenue, is accused of breaking into a house at 153 1/2 S. Truesdale Ave. on Wednesday and shooting his brother, Robert “Poke” Peeples, 44, of East Cleveland, who was staying at the house.

Robert Peeples remains in critical condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center where he is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
