Man arrested in break-in of vacant house

YOUNGSTOWN — A man is charged with breaking into a vacant house in which guns were found. Tony Davis, 25, of Byron Street, will be arraigned today in municipal court on a charge of breaking and entering. He is in the Mahoning County Jail.

Police spotted two men in the driveway of a house in the 1300 block of Shehy Street on Tuesday night. Police know the homeowner is in jail, and neighbors have complained of drug sales around it.

Police said Davis ran into the house and barricaded the front door. Police found a .223-caliber bullet in the front of the house. There was a recent homicide at the house involving a .223-caliber gun.

Police reported seeing through a window what looked like a 22-caliber rifle inside. They got into the house through a second-floor window. The rifle turned out to be a BB gun, but they found an AR-15 assault rifle with two magazines taped together with a total 33 rounds and a 12-gauge shotgun with six rounds. Davis was arrested, and the other man, who didn’t flee, was released.
