Fitch girls roll past Warriors in 7-0 win


Tori Koch scored a pair of goals for the Falcons in their opener.

AUSTINTOWN — Tori Koch scored two goals and an assist in leading Fitch High to a 7-0 win over West Branch in a girls soccer game Wednesday in the Falcons’ stadium.

Dana Lucido, Kelsy Martin, Tiarra Sanders, Kayla Shuttleworth and Sara Ford each had a goal for the Falcons in their season opener. Christian Goleno and Martin had an assist apiece.

Fitch had 27 shots on goal, compared to five for the Warriors (0-1).

Ali Tolich had five saves for the Falcons, while Dianna Sankey had two saves. Tami Pelleman had 11 saves for West Branch.

JVs: Fitch 3-2.

Canfield 1, Magnificat 1

CANFIELD — Senior Noelle Fox scored a goal to give Canfield a 1-0 lead in the first half about two minutes and 30 seconds into the game.

Christine Ferry scored a goal for Magnificat to tie the score late in the first half.

Canfield (0-0-1) had seven shots on goal compared to nine for Magnificat (0-0-1).

Anokha Padubidri had seven saves for the Cardinals.

JVs: Magnificat 1-0.

Boys
Howland 1, Boardman 1

HOWLAND — Sam Ragan scored a goal on a penalty kick in the second half for the Spartans in the opener for both schools.

Joseph Prezioso scored a goal on an assist from Sumit Kovoor to give Howland a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Dan Miller had nine saves for Howland. Ryan Giambatista had five saves for the Spartans.

JVs: Boardman 2, Howland 2.

Ursuline 1, Canton CC 1

CANTON — Ursuline sophomore Mike Goldthwait scored a goal on an assist from Marshall Finelli with about 20 minutes remaining.

The Irish had four shots on goal, compared to six for Canton CC.

James Markino scored for the Crusaders in the first half.

John Colla had five saves for the Irish, while Michael Lindsey had three saves for Central Catholic.

JVs: Ursuline, 2-0.
