4 rescued dogs are up for adoption
YOUNGSTOWN — Remember the emaciated and flea-bitten dogs taken out of a feces-filled house on West Halleck Street last week?
Mahoning County Animal Charity said four of the dogs are available for adoption.
John Hall, humane agent for the agency, said Wednesday that the dogs found Friday in 6 inches of feces at 37 W. Halleck St. have now been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and cleaned of fleas.
They can be adopted by calling him at (330) 788-1064 Ext. 20 or by stopping at Animal Charity at 3722 South Ave. near Midlothian Boulevard.
Also, Hall said that the agency is accepting donations for the care of the dogs until they are adopted.
The dogs were found inside the house. Outside, authorities found three dead dogs, a dead cat and another dog that Animal Charity had to destroy because of its severe neglect.
The property owners, Thomas Culver Sr., 53, and Catherine Culver, 48, both of Idaho Street, Farrell, Pa., each are each charged with nine counts of animal cruelty.
