The new deal

The Struthers Board of Education approved a tentative contract with its teachers. Major changes from the previous contract include:

A 3 percent salary increase for both the 2007-08 and 2008-09 school years.

Teachers who choose low-deductible health-care plans will be responsible for 4 percent of the premium cost.

Teachers who choose medium- or high-deductible plans will not be responsible for any portion of their health-care premiums.

Tuition reimbursement will no longer be offered.
