Man shot this morning on South Truesdale

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating the shooting of a man on the East Side at mid-morning today. Detective John Kelty said the yet-unidentified man was shot several times and was in critical condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Kelty said the shooting began about 10:30 a.m. at 153 1/2 South Truesdale Ave. and continued down the street to a point where the victim collapsed. Police said a “slew” of spent casings, a small semi-automatic pistol and crack cocaine were found at the scene.

One neighbor said that the gunman was about three or four feet from the victim and was firing at him as the victim rolled down the sidewalk. There was a lot of blood on the sidewalk.
