Aug. 16

Theft: A man stole several Sony PlayStation 2 games from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Breaking and entering: A Shadyside Drive woman found that two mountain bikes, worth a total of $140, were stolen her garage.

Theft/criminal damaging: Four vehicles were broken into near a business in the 8000 block of Southern Boulevard, and a compact disc player as well as three in-dash stereos were taken.

Burglary: A Leighton Avenue man discovered someone entered his home through a side door before removing an antique sword.

Auto theft: A 1993 Honda Accord was stolen from a Wolosyn Circle residence.

Attempted theft: Someone went through a vehicle in the 100 block of Rockdale Avenue.

Theft: An elderly West Boulevard man reported the theft of $175 from his apartment.

Aug. 17

Drug paraphernalia: Authorities responded to a possible domestic situation at an Old Oxford Lane residence, where they took into custody a 21-year-old man. He was charged after police said they found suspected marijuana there.

Theft: Police arrested a 17-year-old Salem girl on a theft charge after $115 worth of clothing was stolen from Kohl’s.

Arrest: After pulling over a vehicle for expired license plates near South Avenue, officers arrested a 23-year-old Youngstown man upon learning he was wanted on a charge of providing false information to police.

Theft: A Boardman woman, 22, was charged after two DVDs were stolen from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: Charges against two 22-year-old New Castle, Pa., men were theft, criminal damaging, complicity to theft and drug abuse after they were picked up near U.S. Route 224. Both were accused of damaging and stealing computer software from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road, and police said they found methadone in their vehicle.

Theft: A credit card belonging to a Boardman-Poland Road eatery was stolen in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland.

Bad check: A $975 check was cashed at Home Savings and Loan, 7525 Market St., that was later returned on a closed account.

Drugs: Police received a report of drug abuse at a residence in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Assaults: Injuries to two victims included scrapes and scratches after six people reported being assaulted at an Argyle Avenue residence.

Theft: A worker for Beach Club Tanning in the Southern Park Mall discovered an undisclosed amount of money missing from a cash register.

Theft: An 11-year-old Youngstown boy was charged after a Boardman boy reported his $100, 20-inch bicycle stolen in the 6700 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A Lordstown woman discovered two speakers and a CD player missing from her car while she was in the 400 block of Flagler Lane.

Criminal trespassing: Police cited a 40-year-old Youngstown man on a criminal trespassing charge after getting a report of someone asking people for money at a business near Market Street and Indianola Road.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Struthers woman reported a man broke a window to her vehicle and stole her purse while she was at Lake Park Cemetery, 1459 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Aggravated menacing: A Boardman man told police someone threatened his life and his wife’s life in the 4000 block of Hillman Way.

Breaking and entering: A Woodrow Avenue man discovered a $50 hydraulic floor jack missing after someone entered his garage.

Aug. 18

Arrest: While investigating a report of a stolen credit card at Radio Shack, 7131 Tiffany Blvd., officers arrested a Youngstown man, 41, on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and misuse of a credit card. A suspected crack pipe and two credit cards belonging to someone else were in his car, police said.

Assault: An 18-year-old Struthers woman was charged after being accused of striking another woman at a restaurant in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported a 35 mm digital camera missing after she left a business near Applewood Boulevard.

Criminal damaging: A Youngstown woman came out of the Southern Park Mall and found damage to the passenger-side doors and quarter panel, as well as a slashed tire, of her father’s vehicle.

Theft: A woman’s purse was stolen from her car in the 6600 block of Market Street.

Assault: A Poland man was not hurt after being assaulted near South Avenue and Indianola Road.

Vandalism: A Meadowbrook Avenue woman called police after someone shot a BB and broke a window to her home. Damage was estimated at $250.

Theft/criminal damaging: A worker for a Mathews Road church saw that someone removed letters from a display sign and damaged its plastic cover.

Aug. 19

Domestic violence: A 46-year-old man was arrested at his Cook Avenue residence after police got a report of a woman being held against her will. The accuser also alleged the man held a knife to her throat while restraining her, punched her in the face and force-fed her pills.

Auto theft: A Youngstown woman reported the theft of her 1998 Saturn from the Southern Park Mall.

Assaults/possible theft: Three people reported being assaulted in the 100 block of Boardman-Canfield Road, and police were told the incidents were related to an alleged theft from a Boardman-Canfield business. A lump to the back of the head and back pain were among the victims’ injuries.
