Chili cook-off set


YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown Parrot Head Club has scheduled a cornhole classic and chili cook-off for Sept. 29 at the B&O Properties/Boxcar Lounge.

Setup for the cook off will begin at 8 a.m., cooking begins at 9, with tasting from 11 to 2 p.m. and judging at 2. The entry fee is $30, and each team will be required to produce 10 gallons of chili. Sept. 15 is the registration deadline. Prizes include $200 and a trophy for first place, and $50 and a trophy for second place.

The club will provide 20 sets of boards and bags for the cornhole classic that will begin at 10 a.m. Registration fees are $20 per person or $30 per team, and only 128 teams will be accepted. There will be five top team prizes and the grand prize will be $400.

Donations will be accepted for a Chinese drawing, and sponsorships are available. Bands will entertain and there will be a beer-making demonstration.

The club will also be selling hamburgers and hot dogs, and proceeds from the event will benefit Beatitude House.

General admission is $5 and includes a chance to win four Browns or four Steelers tickets.
