XMOUNT VERNON — Carissa Smith and James Goodlet, both of 3035 Canfield Road, Youngstown, were united in marriage at 3:30 p.m. July 7 at Faith Baptist Church by the Rev. Merlyn Jones.

Parents of the bride are Dan and Sandi Smith, 17820 Hopewell Road, and the groom is a son of Jim and Nina Goodlet, 4994 Taylor Road, Atwater.

A reception was held at Waterford United Methodist Church Family Center in Fredericktown for the couple before they left for a honeymoon at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Since returning, they live in Youngstown.

The bride’s strapless, A-line gown of white satin was trimmed with beaded lace.

Honor attendant was the bride’s sister, Anna Smith, and bridesmaids were Amy Goldston, Carrie Burke, Amanda Plaatje, Cathy Lucarell and Tammy Kenney, all in red gowns. Flower girls were the groom’s cousins, Michael Anne and Sadie Beth Medhurst.
Phil Lucarell was best man, and groomsmen were the groom’s father; Jeff and Josh Goodlet, his brothers; Jasen Bryan; and Terry Kenney. Ring bearer was the bride’s cousin, Sam Edwards.

The bride received a bachelor’s degree in middle childhood education from Cedarville University and will graduate in December with a master’s in educational administration from Youngstown State University. She is a teacher with Beaver Local School District in Lisbon.

The groom graduated from Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg and is a fireman with Youngstown Fire Department.
