Girard has not bought new police cars in more than a decade. Officers say the cars are becoming a hazard and city officials are looking for dollars to buy new vehicles. Here is some information on the current cars.

Fourteen cars in the fleet.
Fleet bought in 1996.
About $28,000 spent maintaining the cars in 2006.
Officials hope to have $60,000 put away by year’s end to put toward new cars.
