YOUNGSTOWN STATE \ A brief history
Youngstown State University was founded in 1908 and originally served about 160 students with 12 faculty members.
Became a state university in 1967.
Today, 120 undergraduate programs, 40 master’s degree programs and a doctorate in education are offered.
YSU’s seven colleges, schools and administrative departments have more than 420 full-time faculty as well as 750 support and professional staff.
The university has more than 80,000 alumni members.
