Manufacturing

Who: Precision Manufacturing Institute, a school that offers 21 nationally accredited programs in manufacturing skill such as millwright work, robotics, CNC and other programs, is opening a branch campus in Sharon, Pa.

When: It plans to start offering courses in November or December when their new building is completed. Classes will be offered from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. to accommodate working students. The Shenango Valley Foundation, a nonprofit group, is constructing the building and leasing it to the school.

Where: A new 13,000-square-foot building in the Broadway North Industrial Park, 700 Dock St. The one-floor building will have four classrooms and an area of about 700-square-feet for the equipment. There will be about $2 million to $3 million worth of equipment ranging from manual machines to robotics.

Employment: The school intends to hire local instructors and administrators to operate the facility which should include about seven full-time people and part-time workers.

Classes: Class sizes range from seven to nine pupils and programs can range anywhere from a 40-hour class to a nine-month program. Tuition rates vary based on the classes and financial aid is available.
