Accused bank robber goes to court

YOUNGSTOWN — The man accused of robbing a Campbell bank — twice — last week made his initial appearance in federal court this week.

Donald B. Bevly, 48, of 285 Robinson Road, is charged with bank robbery in the Aug. 7 and Aug. 10 robberies of the National City Bank branch located at 403 Tenney Ave.

Bevly admitted to carrying out both robberies, according to an affidavit prepared by FBI agent Bonnie Hartmann. He was captured during his second robbery attempt by a plainclothes officer working security at the bank.

An audit conducted at the bank indicated Bevly escaped with about $316, Hartmann said.
