Robbers come on foot to car chase, lose

YOUNGSTOWN — A robbery attempt at the Dairy Queen on Belmont Avenue was foiled late Thursday night when the owner and his employees drove away, leaving two men in ski masks behind, police said. The owner told police he was in his car around 10:20 p.m., waiting for his employees to leave in their cars, when two men jumped a nearby fence and one pulled a gun, screaming that he wanted money. The employees drove off, as did the owner, with the night deposit bag in his car, calling police as he drove.
