YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted an 18-year-old man on aggravated murder and aggravated robbery charges with firearm specifications in the shooting death of a clerk during a May 2, 2006, robbery at Auto Zone on McCartney Road.
Jamaad Jackson, of Wychwood Lane, was indicted Thursday in the murder of Edward Agee, 52, of Star Street. At the request of the county prosecutor’s office, Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court ordered Jackson held in county jail without bond pending trial.
Jackson, who was only 16 when the store robbery and shooting death occurred, was bound over from juvenile court Aug. 1 for trial as an adult.
Although they said a store video showed Jackson was armed, police believe another defendant, Melvin T. Dixon Jr., 23, of Devon Avenue, actually shot Agee. Dixon is being held in county jail without bond on aggravated murder and aggravated robbery charges. Dixon was sentenced to one year in prison in an unrelated case.
A third defendant in the Auto Zone case, Reginald Everson, 21, of Chalmers Avenue, who was arrested in the Los Angeles area and charged with aggravated robbery, is free on bond. An assistant prosecutor said Everson did not have a gun during the robbery.
Other indictments

One felonious assault count pertains to an alleged knife attack on a woman June 17.
