Aqua buys water system in Geauga County

MENTOR— Aqua Ohio, Inc. (Aqua) today announced that the company has acquired the Auburn Lakes Water System for $400,000. This acquisition marks Aqua's initial entry into Geauga County and should provide momentum for additional acquisitions in the area.

“Aqua's professional service levels and competitive pricing helped the company secure the Auburn Lakes acquisition, which is the first system purchased by Aqua in Geauga County,” said Louis S. Kreider, Aqua's vice president and division manager. “The acquisition establishes a path for expansion into Geauga County.”

The acquisition of the system-originally owned by the Auburn Lakes Limited Partnership-adds nearly 1,200 people to its customer base in the following condominium associations: The Woods at Auburn Lakes Condominium Association, the Auburn Lakes Condominium Association and the Auburn Crossing Unit Owners' Association.

“This new acquisition will allow us to demonstrate the professionalism and expertise of all our employees,” said Aqua President Walter J. “Buzz” Pishkur.

Aqua is Ohio's largest investor-owned water utility and services nearly 280,000 people in 54 communities, including more than 100,000 people in Lake and Ashtabula counties. The company is a subsidiary of Aqua America, a large U.S.-based publicly-traded water utility serving more than 2.8 million people in 13 states.
