HUBBARD
Aug. 10
Theft: A man in the 500 block of West Liberty Street discovered his car had been entered and items stolen.
Theft: A woman reported her stepfather’s wallet missing from a residence in the 500 block of Caroline Avenue.
Fraud: A West Liberty Street man found out someone obtained his driver’s license and used it fraudulently.
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 600 block of Moore Street saw that someone used glue to write an obscenity on her front porch.
Assault: A man reported another man assaulted the accuser on North Main Street.
Domestic violence: Officers arrested a Hubbard man in the township and charged him with the crime.
Aug. 11
Fraud: An employee with a West Liberty Street business discovered two accounts had been opened with false information. The report didn’t mention the name of the business.
Aug. 12
Theft: A motorist left a Shell True North station, 204 W. Liberty St., without paying for gasoline.
Assault: A Hubbard man reported his great-granddaughter was assaulted.
Aug. 13
Fraud: A Simler Street man told police he detected a scam when someone called and requested the victim send him $599 for a package the caller claimed was worth $5 million.
GIRARD
Aug. 12
Recovered property: Liberty police stopped a 1999 Chrysler from which the driver fled on foot after a woman in the 500 block of Park Avenue had reported it stolen. A loaded .45-caliber firearm and suspected packaged marijuana were found, authorities said.
Burglary/arson: A Crumlin Avenue woman and her boyfriend reported someone broke into their apartment through a rear door and started a small fire in the living room before taking a laptop computer that was later recovered.
Arrest: While investigating a possible break-in at an East Main Street home, authorities arrested a Hubbard man, 20, on charges of aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct, aggravated trespassing and criminal damaging. The man kicked and damaged part of a cruiser, and threatened to kill an officer and his family in retaliation for being arrested, police said.
Arrest: While responding to a criminal-trespassing complaint, police took a 37-year-old man into custody in the 200 block of East Main Street after learning he was wanted on a warrant from Ashtabula County. He faced additional charges of resisting arrest and escape when, officers say, he fled and later struggled with them.
Aug. 13
Robbery: A Girard woman told officers that after a man she knows called and agreed to meet her near Park Avenue regarding $50 she said he owed her, he showed her a firearm under his shirt and demanded money. The victim gave him $30.
Theft: A 14-year-old boy reported his $100 bicycle stolen while he was in the 100 block of East Prospect Street.
Theft: A Gordon Street man reported a stereo, a satellite radio, a subwoofer and an amplifier stolen from his vehicle.
Theft: A worker with Commercial Truck & Trailer Service Inc., 221 W. Broadway Ave., reported the theft of a $2,000 hydraulic cylinder used for a dump truck.
Assault: A Girard man alleged a Hazel Street man punched the accuser near his nose and pushed him into a driveway when the accuser went to the residence to inquire about a lawsuit.
LIBERTY
Aug. 9
Vandalism: A Girard man discovered a threatening message was written on his mother-in-law’s headstone at Belmont Park Cemetery, 3346 Belmont Ave.
Aggravated menacing: A Hadley Avenue woman alleged her father came to her residence, threatened to kill her and drove through her yard.
Robbery: A Youngstown woman alleged that after driving her to a Belmont Avenue business to have a prescription filled, her former boyfriend, 20, took the prescription by force and pushed the woman out of her vehicle.
Aug. 11
Menacing: A Vienna woman reported a 23-year-old man threatened to harm her while she was in the 6000 block of Belmont Avenue.
Arrest: While responding to a disturbance at a Scott Lane residence, police took into custody a 31-year-old woman. She was wanted on a warrant charging her with child endangerment.
Drugs: A Warren woman, 35, was arrested in the 200 block of Colonial Drive on charges of possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia when, police say, they found in her car a folded magazine page containing suspected heroin, as well as a straw for drug use.
Burglary: A man in the 3000 block of North Gate Road returned to find a rear door had been kicked in. Stolen were a 19-inch TV and a DVD player.
Theft/forgery: A Hadley Avenue man suspected two people of stealing, forging and cashing one of his checks.
Aug. 12
Drugs/weapon: Police, along with Austintown authorities, were looking for a 22-year-old Girard man after he fled on foot during a traffic stop near state Route 193, and after saying they found on the ground a nylon bag containing a semiautomatic firearm as well as several bags of suspected marijuana.
Theft: A Cardinal Drive woman reported someone rode away on her son’s $150 mountain bike.
Arrests: Six boys ages 11 to 14 faced charges of criminal trespassing and possession of criminal tools after police got word of a possible plot to break into W.S. Guy Middle School, 4115 Shady Road. Authorities said they found a pellet gun, two walkie-talkies, two flashlights and a backpack containing rocks, and one of the teens also was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Criminal damaging: Someone broke a lock and latch to a shed at Pleasant Valley Church, 2955 Pleasant Valley Road.
Drugs: A man, no age given, was cited on charges of possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia as well as operating a vehicle impaired after being pulled over near Shannon Road. A bag containing a metal pipe with suspected marijuana residue and another bag with 9.8 grams of suspected marijuana were found, police said.
Aug. 13
Theft: A Boardman woman reported her credit card stolen while at the Liberty Plaza, 3551 Belmont Ave.
Identity theft: A Youngstown man told police he lost his driver’s license in the 1100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road and later found out someone used his name and personal information to obtain cable service at an unknown address.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s rear driver’s-side window was smashed in the 1400 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road, resulting in $100 worth of damage.
Theft: A Youngstown man accused his former girlfriend, a Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman, of using his information to buy cable services.
