Columbiana commissioners receive some land proposals for new JFS site

LISBON — The Columbiana County commissioners received proposals Wednesday for sites for a new Department of Job and Family Services building.

The sites are either off state Route 45 north of Lisbon or east of the village on state Route 154.

The commissioners want about five acres. Offers ran to more than 50 acres.

Even the Columbiana County Agricultural Society, which runs the annual county fair, has offered land for sale.

The commissioners want to replace the aging JFS building.

The commissioners said they would review the proposals.

The commissioners are several million dollars short of what they need to build a facility.

Area architects have suggested older buildings in the heart of the village be renovated to house the agency.
