will assist workshop
YOUNGSTOWN — Archangel Dance Theater will present a Liturgical Dance Technique workshop from 1-8 p.m. Saturday at Ballet Western Reserve, 218 W. Boardman St., downtown. The cost is $50. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m on the day of the workshop.
Levensky Smith, who is performing in the Broadway show “The Color Purple,” will be among the instructors, which also include Lindsay Benton, a dance major at Howard University; teacher/choreographer Jessica Oliver of Cleveland School of the Arts; Joshua Green of the American Musical and Dramatic Arts Academy; Joette Johnson, Archangel national workshop leader, and Archangel founder and artistic director Karen Clark-Green.
The workshop will offer instruction in technique for beginners, Afro-Caribbean, contemporary, hip-hop, modern, choreography, flags and tap.
‘Butch Cassidy’ screening
YOUNGSTOWN — WYSU and Youngstown Film will screen “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” at 7 tonight in the auditorium in DeBartolo Hall (Room 132), on the Youngstown State University campus. “Butch Cassidy” is a 1969 Western about a bank robber and his partner, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford. It won four Academy Awards. The screening is free to the public.
Rockwell exhibit
WARREN — A free exhibit of Norman Rockwell figurines, plates and magazine illustrations are on display through September at the Sutliff Museum.
The exhibit is open from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. The museum is on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. For further information, go to Sutliffmuseum.org.
Ballroom dance classes
YOUNGSTOWN — The Jewish Community Center will hold ballroom dancing classes every Wednesday from Sept. 5 through October.
Intermediate East Coast swing will be from 6:30-7:25 p.m.; nightclub two-step will be from 7:30-8:25 p.m.
Both classes are taught by Lisa Gasperoni. Payments can be made Jccyoungstown.org or at the door on the day of the class.
