Turnpike stop nets $2 million in heroin

TOLEDO (AP) — A man pulled over for following too closely on the Ohio Turnpike was transporting $2 million of heroin, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Troopers stopped Jose Corona-Rodriguez, 37, on Monday near Toledo, the patrol said. A drug-detection dog helped find the 11 pounds of heroin inside his truck, the patrol said.

Corona-Rodriguez, of Mexico, was charged with drug trafficking, drug abuse and possession of criminal tools. He could face up to 21 years in prison if convicted.

He was being held in the Lucas County jail.
