Last year: Cristie Kerr won at London Hunt in Ontario, overcoming an eight-stroke deficit in the final round to beat Angela Stanford by a stroke. Kerr finished with a 7-under 65, while Stanford bogeyed the final two holes for a 74.
Last event: Lorena Ochoa won the Women’s British Open — the first women’s pro tournament at St. Andrews — on Aug. 5 for her first major title. The top-ranked Mexican star beat Jee Young Lee and Maria Hjorth by four strokes.

PGA TOUR
Wyndham Championship
Greensboro, N.C.

Schedule: Thursday-Sunday.
Course: Forest Oaks Country Club (7,333 yards, par 72).
Purse: $5 million. Winner’s share: $900,000.
Television: Golf Channel (Thursday-Friday, 3-6 p.m., 9 p.m.-midnight) and CBS (Saturday-Sunday, 1-4 p.m.)
Last year: Davis Love III won three years after overseeing a renovation project at Forest Oaks, closing with a 66 for a two-stroke victory over Jason Bohn. Love, also the 1992 winner, won his 19th PGA Tour title and first since 2003.
Last week: Tiger Woods won the PGA Championship for his 13th major victory, successfully defending his title at Southern Hills in Tulsa, Okla. He shot 71-63-69-69 to beat Woody Austin by two strokes. Woods, the Bridgestone Invitational winner the previous week, has five PGA Tour wins this year and 59 overall.

Last year: Argentina’s Eduardo Romero won his first Champions Tour title, beating Lonnie Nielson with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff at The Reserve Vineyards. Romero was making his eighth start on the 50-and-over tour.
Last event: D.A. Weibring won the 3M Championship on Aug. 5 in Blaine, Minn., birdieing the last three holes to beat Jay Haas by a stroke.

PGA EUROPEAN TOUR
Scandinavian Masters
Stockholm

Purse: $2.18 million. Winner’s share: $362,100.

Last year: Scotland’s Marc Warren won his first tour title, beating Sweden’s Robert Karlsson with a par on the second hole of a playoff at Barseback.
