Beaver Twp. OKs loan to buy second ambulance
NORTH LIMA — Beaver Township is moving forward with its plan to buy a second ambulance for its Emergency Medical Services department through the state cooperative purchasing program.
The trustees agreed Tuesday to borrow $92,000 from Sky Bank to buy a 2006 Ford ambulance from Penn Care of Niles.
The annual installments will be for a period of three years, beginning in 2008, at an interest rate of 5.21 percent. The actual purchase price of the vehicle is $115,169, of which the township is financing about 80 percent.
Officials have said the ambulance the township uses recently had some mechanical problems, causing it to frequently be out of service. As a result, the township often has had to rely on private ambulance services to transport residents, they said.
