Wal-Mart thefts, scuffle lead to arrests

BOARDMAN — Police arrested three women outside of a Doral Drive discount store, accusing them of trying to leave the store without paying for items.

Sandi Weaver, 21, of Truesdale Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with robbery and lodged in the Mahoning County Jail. She’s accused of fighting with store security.

Two other Youngstown women, Nina Sanchez, 20, of East Myrtle Avenue, and Anna Yohman, 20, of West Boston Avenue, each were charged with complicity to theft. Both were released on summonses.

Police were called to Walmart about 6:45 p.m. Friday where security personnel were fighting with people in the parking lot.

One of the security guards told police that he saw Weaver concealing merchandise while the other two women tried to shield her from view. The store employees approached the women as they tried to leave the store.

Weaver gave the merchandise to one of the security officers and then ran toward the parking lot. When they tried to detain her, she fought, injuring the finger of one security officer and the shin of a second one, a police report said.
