Scrappers sweep past Ironbirds with 4-1 win

Mahoning Valley will return to action Thursday after
the All-Star break.

ABERDEEN, Md. — Adam White’s three hits included a double and he scored a run as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers completed a three-game sweep of the Aberdeen Ironbirds.

Four Scrappers pitchers combined to limit the Firebird to one run and five hits in a 4-1 victory on Sunday.

Joanniel Montero (6-2) was the winning pitcher, tossing five shutout innings and allowing one hit.

Todd Martin had two hits while Justin Jenkins, Nick Petrucci and Michael Valadez had one each.

The New York-Penn League All-Star Game will be played Tuesday in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The Scrappers are off until Thursday when they begin a three-game series against the Jammers in Jamestown, N.Y. They trail Auburn by one game in the Pinckney Division standings.
