Four Scrappers pitchers combine for 7-0 shutout

Mahoning Valley plays its final game before the All-Star break today.

ABERDEEN, Md. — Four Scrappers pitchers combined to shut out the Aberdeen Firebirds Saturday in a 7-0 victory for Mahoning valley.

Starter Dan Frega went five innings, allowing no hits and walking one. He struck out nine batters.

Also pitching were William Delage (two innings), Kyle Landis (one inning) and Garrett Rieck (one inning).

Nick Petrucci tripled and doubled to drive in two runs. He also scored twice.

Mark Thompson, Michael Valadez and Osiel Flores also had two hits each.

The Scrappers will conclude their three-game set in Maryland today at 5:35 p.m. then take three days off for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game break.

For the second straight year, the Scrappers have six players selected to the All Star Team: first baseman Todd Martin (.387, 8 HR, 36 RBI), infielder Jansy Infante (.315, 0 HR, 17 RBI), catcher Alex Castillo (.274, 1 HR, 21 RBI), Landis (1-0, 0.42 ERA, 5 saves),Rieck (3-0, 1.07 ERA, 1 save) and pitcher Heath Taylor (2-2, 1.78 ERA).
