Family dinner held to honor Nilssons on 40th wedding anniversary
XAUSTINTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Gary (Ruth) Nilsson of Austintown attended a family dinner Aug. 4 at the Fifth Season in Youngstown in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary.
The couple were united in marriage Aug. 5, 1967, at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown.
They are the parents of two daughters, Kristin Nilsson of Chicago and Amy Nilsson of Howland, and they have three grandchildren.
Mrs. Nilsson, who was employed 17 years with Pepsi-Cola Co. of Youngstown, is a member of the Red Hat Society, enjoys knitting and crocheting, and sells her wares at area craft shows. In May she took a “trip of a lifetime” to Egypt with her daughters.
Mr. Nilsson was employed by General Electric Co. in Warren for 33 years. He is a member of the Honda Gold Wing Club and displays his 1969 Ford Fairlane in car shows.
Now that both are retired, the Nilssons have taken part-time summer jobs, she as a tour guide at the Old Mill and he as a worker at the Pioneer Pavilion.
