Osteopathic degrees

Two Mahoning Valley natives have received their doctor of osteopathic medicine degrees from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens. They are Brooke Blumetti of Canfield and Jessica Handel of Columbiana.

The daughter of Joe and Ann Marie Blumetti of Canfield, Dr. Blumetti earned a bachelor of science degree in biology-premed/chemistry from Ohio University in 2002. She is a 1998 graduate of Canfield High School.

In July, she began an internship at Richmond Heights Hospital in Richmond Heights.

Dr. Handel, the daughter of Margaret Garwood of Columbiana and Robert Mellinger of Cincinnati, earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Muskingum College in 2003. She is a 1999 graduate of Crestview High School, Columbiana.

In July, she began an internship at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
